You and I will work together on your manuscript to ready it for submission to agents and/or editors, or to prepare it for self-publishing. We will begin with a free consultation in which you will send me a 10-20 page sample of your manuscript, we’ll discuss what sort of editing would be most beneficial to you, and I’ll lay out what steps I’ll take to help you bring your work to its highest possible standard.
Editing can involve any combination of the following: close readings of your work (either one chapter, multiple chapters, or the entire manuscript); developmental and/or line edits including any necessary copyediting; feedback in the form of a reader report; and a lengthy, thorough editorial letter suggesting both big picture and detail-orientated changes and improvements that will cover plot, character development, structure, pacing, and so on, depending on the needs of your project.
My turnaround time is usually 2-4 weeks from receipt of manuscript and first payment, depending on other deadlines and length of project. If a rush service is requested, a fee of $150 will be added. Manuscript submissions should be formatted with standard margins, double-spaced, and 12 point serif font, such as Times New Roman.
Strongest areas of expertise are: children's literature (ages 8+), YA (ages 12+), adult literary fiction, light sci-fi/fantasy/thriller, and adult nonfiction including academic writing (generally 100,000 words or fewer).
I am adept at editing for academic, report, website, and general communication purposes. I have a certificate in Fundamentals of Copyediting and Proofreading from NYU School of Professional Studies, Center for Publishing. Please contact me to discuss the needs of your business or project and I will ensure your writing reaches its highest quality.
If none of the listed services quite fit your needs, contact me to discuss what you have in mind. From literary consulting, story brainstorming, project management, event and brand consulting, and more, I can help you achieve your goals (or find someone who can!).
Please contact me for a quote, which will be based on factors such as word count, type of edit required, timeframe, and so on. Rates will either be by the hour or a block rate depending on the project.
